BHP SD70ACe’s Just Around The Corner

Friday, March 12th, 2010

BHP Billiton SD70ACe Isolated cab locomotives are due to arrive in Muncie in April.  In just a week or two Overland Models will be sending out pick-up notices to our dealers.  As of this point only a couple of reservations are available for the OMI #AA-1601 locomotives which are locomotives built to BNSF specifications and with BNSF orange and silver paint with white BHP lettering.  In this same group are 3 other BHP SD70ACe units with one in the more traditional BHP ‘Bubble’ scheme, OMI #AA-1604.

The image shown below is from Rick Schonfelder. The unit operates only in a trailing position since it does not have any of the BHP modificiations applied to the locomotive.  This locomotive would be perfectly matched with any Overland Models BHP SD70ACe or BHP AC6000CW.  Please note we are taking reservations for BHP AC6000CW locomotives in the as delivered blue scheme and the more recent Bubble scheme.  OMI #AA-1601 BHP #4324, 4327, 4330, 4331.  Only 1 each of road number #4330 and 4331 still available for open reservation.  Total production for OMI #AA-1601 units is 19 units.

International Car Co Wide-Vision Caboose Project Update

Thursday, February 11th, 2010

Sunday night the 1st round of drawing reviews were completed for all 109 variations.

The builder has been working on the reviews and making drawing modifications since early January and revised drawings are now starting to be presented for a 2nd review.  I am pleased to report that progress is being made and all parties are enthusiastically working toward the finish line.

At this time I would like to issue a last call for detail images, roster images, original drawings or any support information that may be sitting out there waiting to be requested.  Every effort is being made to make this production our best ever and hope that with your contribution to the production efforts we will all be rewarded with a great production.

Anyone with materials that they can offer for production support prior to the drawings being finalized would be much appreicated.  Contact Brian Marsh at bmarsh@overlandmodels.com.

CNR Pointe St Charles Caboose Images

Monday, February 8th, 2010

Today Overland Models has loaded in descriptions and images for the Canadian National and former Canadian National Pointe St Charlese caboose project in HO scale.  After viewing the images I believe you will see that we have provided a wide selection of detail, paint and lettering variations that are sure to please our customers.

If you have any suggestions, images, detail photos or general comments related to the project I look forward to hearing from you soon.  Please place your order with your favorite Overland Models Dealer today.  A big thank you to Mr. Don McQueen and a number of other photographers that have assisted wtih providing images to make this project possible.  We are early enough in the project to make quick changes…so if you see something that looks to be out of place, please advise.

Production will be very limited for each of the variations and individual road numbers.  By limited in numbers we are targetting a range of between 10-20 pieces per road number…and a few more for some of the roads such as CBNS, NBSR, GWWD, etc that have only one road number.  Production numbers will be finalized and largely based upon pre-orders.

We intend to install a DCC plug and to install operating back-up lights and to illuminate the marker lights with only the red bulbs on each end.  Note that the clear end lights were typically only used for back-up operations and the markers when illuminated were typically red based upon images found during research.

US Army 3GS21B Delayed - OMI AA-1355

Tuesday, February 2nd, 2010

Due to an issue with paint the Army 3GS21B locomotives were returned to our builder and will be repainted in the proper colors.  We regret the delay.  However, it is always our goal to provide proper details and take action as necessary.  This paint issue is one of those times we chose to take quick action and hope to have the models to our customers in the next few weeks.
